Some of the scripts we have here require the 24U scripting addition in order to work. If you decide you no longer want or need one of the scripts offered and want to get rid of the 24U OSAX, simply go to the following directory:

Home / Library / ScriptingAdditions

Find the 24U Appearance OSAX and move it to the trash. That’s it! You can also check the scripting additions folder in:

Macintosh HD / Library / ScriptingAdditions

If you find a copy of the OSAX in there, simply delete it. You may need an admin password to remove it. Couldn’t be simpler.

I’m very pleased and excited to be able to finally announce publicly that development of Cache Out X has been taken over by Christopher Thompson of TriLateral Systems.

Christopher has already hit the ground running with a new public beta which fixes some outstanding Tiger and Leopard related issues in the software. In addition to that, he’s taken over full hosting of all released versions for OS X versions 10.2 through 10.4 and beyond. You can consider him the goto guy for all things Cache Out X now.

So with this official passing of the torch, I would like to extend a huge thanks to Christopher for being the guy to step in and keep the dev fire burning, to Xavier Moulia for taking the COX torch from me and adding the AppleScript Studio overlay, logo and much more, to Jim Mitchell for picking up where Xavier left off and making it even better and more user friendly, and to all the users who’ve been so supportive along the way.

Ok, maybe that’s a bit melodramatic. But based on user comments sent via email, Trash It! is a lifesaver for many people. What does it do exactly? Simply speaking, if you have items in the trash or anywhere on your computer that just refuse to be deleted, Trash It! takes care of the problem quickly and easily. Keep in mind we developed Trash It! for deleting stuck items, or deleting items using enhanced overwriting security measures (for sensitive items you don’t want recovered!). It should not be used as a trash can replacement as that would be like shooting a mouse with an elephant gun. Plus, we like mice. You can get it here.

Then you need to download Hack to the Past II. This simple AppleScript will swap the keyboard shortcuts for New Folder and New Finder Window as they were for decades in pre-OS X. If you decide later you want to go back, just run the script again. Works with all versions of OS X’s Finder, and it keeps these settings through OS X updates and upgrades. A British judge has ruled that Al Gore’s Oscar-winning film on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” contains “nine errors.”

High Court Judge Michael Burton, deciding a lawsuit that questioned the film’s suitability for showing in British classrooms, said Wednesday that the movie builds a “powerful” case that global warming is caused by humans and that urgent means are needed to counter it.

Weather Channel Founder speaks out

Google’s new Street View button, now available at Google Maps and in limited cities so far, is without a doubt really quite astonishing. They’ve promised more cities to come and I personally can’t wait. Check it out at Google Maps, click the Street View button, and choose one of the covered areas. Some folks, though, are worried about privacy issues, and rightly so.
